Wii Play
What will Wii Play when it comes out? I know, that wasn't very clever... Date: February 11, 2007 Author: Kevin Pages: 1 Cancel your hot dates for the fourteenth because in case you didn't already hear, Wii Play is coming! The obvious get-what-you-came-for title of Wii Sports eludes us this time, but just so know, here's what the nine new games packed into Wii Play will look like:
1) Shooting Range: Formerly known as Duck Hunt Wii, players will shoot ducks as well as clay discs and UFOs with the Wii Remote. Mulitplayer is supported.
2) Find Mii: Much like the wanted poster minigame from Super Mario 64 DS, this game throws a select Mii into a crowd and sets you loose to find it. The quicker you do this, the better.
3) Table Tennis: At first glance it looks like another Wii Sports Tennis—but it's not! Instead of swinging the paddle to hit the ball, you must simply do direct the paddle to where it can hit the ball; the ball is hit automatically. This is the opposite of Wii Sports Tennis. In Tennis, the swinging was your job with the movement automatic. Now you make the movements while it swings for you. Peculiar...
4) Pose Mii: A matching game using the Mii as a model, this minigame will throw all sorts of poses at you until you can't keep matching them any longer.
5) Laser Hockey: Like ice hockey, only using the same control as Table Tennis, this game will have you controlling the spin of the puck by turning the Wii Remote as you direct it.
6) Billiards: Most anticipated of all, this minigame appears to have a very precise aiming control interface. The rules are nine-ball only and the scoring is a bit different, but you pool sharks out there will like it just fine.
7) Fishing: Not exactly what we expected, but there will be different kinds of fish that add different quantities of points to your score. There will be no 'reeling in' unfortunately...
8) Charge!: Like Excite Truck. Except you're on a cow. AND you're knocking over scarecrows. Aaand there's little else to say about that...
9) Tanks!: Battle in tanks controlled by either the D Pad or the Nunchuk Control Stick. The Wii Remote will be the gun's aiming device as players attempt to blow each other up. Fun. The "official" release date on Nintendo's main site says (in two different places) that the game will be released tomorrow (February 12th) however the pressroom claims it will arrive on Valentine's Day. |
